Finnish Companies Lead the Charge in Digital Transformation

Finnish companies are at the forefront of digitalization, contributing to the transformation of various sectors, from education to healthcare and well-being, fueled by innovative ideas, funding, and strategic partnerships.

Helsinki-based startup Auntie Solutions, specializing in preventative psychological support and therapy services for corporate employees, announced a 10 million-euro investment from Verdane in December. The funding aims to enhance internationalization, allowing Auntie to expand its low-threshold services, currently available in 20 languages and utilized by over 300 organizations globally. The investment will also facilitate the development of a unique digital platform for mental well-being services.

Workfellow, an Espoo-based software developer, secured almost 2.8 million euros in equity funding led by OpenOcean. The funding will support growth and enhance product and commercial operations. Workfellow’s plug-and-play tool provides enterprises with insights into the impact of digital transformation investments on teamwork, offering a new layer of intelligence for data-driven collaborative decision-making.

COVID-19 has accelerated global digital transformation efforts, with Finnish companies well-positioned to support this shift. Finland ranks second in the European Commission’s 2021 Digital Economy and Society Index, showcasing the country’s commitment to digitalization. Minister of Local Government Sirpa Paatero emphasizes the need for continuous efforts to ensure digital development benefits a wide range of people.

Medanets, an Oulu-based app developer, announced a partnership with County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust in the UK to deliver mobile nursing tools, enhancing patient care and staff experience. Another Finnish startup, New Nordic Schools, partners with Boundless Life to bring its educational expertise to nomadic families, aligning with the Finnish curriculum and offering a transformative learning system.
