Finnish game developers are celebrating success, with Noice securing a substantial 19.6-million-euro funding round, and Nitro Games inking a significant deal valued at approximately 9 million euros with Netflix.
Noice has raised close to 25 million euros overall, earmarked for the development of its next-generation multiplayer platform that seamlessly integrates live streaming with multiplayer gaming. The platform focuses on actively engaging viewers as participants in the gameplay experience. Backing the funding round are notable investors and familiar names from the Finnish tech landscape, including Ilkka Paananen and Mikko Kodisoja, co-founders of Supercell, and Miki Kuusi, co-founder of Wolt. The funds will be utilized for marketing, platform development, and team expansion.
Jussi Laakkonen, CEO and co-founder of Noice highlighted the challenges associated with live-streaming, emphasizing the need for trust-building measures such as minimum guarantees for creators and commitments. The company, founded in 2020, operates with a remote-first work culture and has a team of 70 individuals working across different countries, with the majority based in Helsinki, Finland.
On the other front, Nitro Games, a mobile game developer, has secured a lucrative deal with Netflix valued at approximately 9 million euros. The deal encompasses multiplatform game development and post-launch live services for an unannounced game project, expected to conclude in 2026. This aligns with Nitro Games’ strategy of offering services to select customers.
Jussi Tähtinen, CEO of Nitro Games, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration with Netflix, emphasizing that the project aligns well with their capabilities, vision, and strategy.
These positive developments add to the recent successes in the Finnish games industry, including Metacore’s expansion to Berlin, GraphoGame receiving a UNESCO award, and high rankings for Supercell and Rovio in a global mobile game ranking.
The thriving Finnish game development landscape continues to make waves with innovative projects and strategic partnerships, marking a significant contribution to the global gaming industry.
